Yes, on a modest scale. When we read the 499 newest Canadian profiles on 21 September 2026, every one had joined in the previous 71 days, about 49 a week, and 57.1% had been active in the last 30 days. That is the men's side, seen from a woman's account. We estimate about 1,450 Canadian men are visible at any time; that is an estimate, not a count. Most of what you will see was posted recently, not left over from years ago.

The website charges in US dollars: $33.99 USD for one month, which came to about $49.00 CAD on a Canadian card with a 2.5% foreign-transaction fee (what two big-bank cards we checked charge; your card may differ). The Canadian App Store charges $45.99 CAD for the same month. On the check dates the cheaper way to pay for one month was the Canadian App Store.

Is it legit, and who runs it?

SeniorMatch has been running since 2001 and is operated by SuccessfulMatch (SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., a Delaware corporation), a company registered in Vaughan, Ontario; the address on file, 10 - 8707 Dufferin St Suite 160, Thornhill, ON L4J 0A6, Canada, names the community of Thornhill, which sits inside the City of Vaughan. It has real Canadian members: we counted 176 men visible in Alberta alone. 34.7% of the newest Canadian profiles showed the verified badge, so the platform itself is not new, even though its Canadian footprint is small.

What can I do without paying?

Standard (free) members can browse, wink and reply to messages a Premium member started, but cannot start a new conversation themselves. Only 8.6% of the newest Canadian profiles were Premium when we checked, so a free member's first messages come from that small group. That is a real limit worth knowing before you register, not a sales pitch for upgrading. Free members can still browse full profiles and send a wink, which is often enough to see whether your own province has anyone worth a longer look.

Who will I find in my province?

Most new Canadian members are in the four largest provinces: Ontario 32.7%, Quebec 29.1%, British Columbia 13.8%, Alberta 12.4%. Alberta is the one large province we counted to the end: 176 men visible, 50 of them active in the last 30 days. Smaller provinces are thinner: Nova Scotia showed 47 and New Brunswick 22. If your own province is not one of the four, expect a smaller list and a slower pace.

Will I only see Americans?

Not if you set the search. SeniorMatch is international, and its search offers Anywhere; Living in. Choosing Living in, then Canada or your province, shows Canadians: that is how we read 499 Canadian profiles. If you see mostly Americans, check this setting first: the default is Anywhere, and leaving it there pulls results from the larger international pool, which is why narrowing the location matters. Fixing it takes one setting change in your account, not a new signup.

The chart lines up every one of the 499 newest Canadian profiles SeniorMatch showed on 21 September 2026, sorted by province. Four provinces hold most of the group: Ontario 32.7%, Quebec 29.1%, British Columbia 13.8%, Alberta 12.4%. Together those four account for 88% of the newest arrivals, and the rest are spread thin across the other six provinces and three territories. The account doing the looking was a woman's, so every profile counted here is a man's side of SeniorMatch in Canada, not the whole membership, and the sample is the newest arrivals rather than everyone who has ever joined. In Alberta, the count also shows which cities carry the province: Calgary and Edmonton alone account for 55% of the Alberta profiles we counted, a pattern the members-in-canada page breaks down city by city.

Alberta is the one province we read all the way to the end of the list: 176 men, 20 of them active in the past week, 50.0% showing the verified badge, and a median age of 65. The oldest profile still on screen was 180 days old, a reminder that an inactive listing does not disappear on its own. Scaling that full Alberta count up by Alberta's own share of the newest-profile sample points to about 1,417 men nationwide; scaling up separately from the smaller provinces and territories, where we counted 178 men across all 9 of them, points to about 1,480. The two projections land close together, which is why we put the number at roughly 1,450 Canadian men visible at any time. That is an estimate built from two counts, not a figure SeniorMatch itself publishes, and the honest limit is that no outside source exists to check it against. SeniorMatch's website bills in US dollars and its Canadian App Store listing bills in Canadian dollars, and on the check date one month cost less through the Canadian App Store; a Canadian card also adds a foreign-transaction fee (2.5% on the two big-bank cards we checked; other cards differ) on top of whatever the website charges in US funds, so the real cost of the web plan runs higher than the sticker price once that fee lands on the statement. Compare both columns below before choosing a channel, since the cheaper side can change with the exchange rate, and keep the receipt either way: a plan bought on the website cancels inside your SeniorMatch account, Settings > Subscriptions > click "Your membership will automatically renew until you cancel your subscription by clicking here" > CONTINUE MANAGEMENT, while a plan bought through the Canadian App Store cancels only in Apple's own settings, Settings app > your name > Subscriptions > the subscription > Cancel Subscription.

Three steps, and what each one really involves

  1. Register for free Building a profile and adding photos costs nothing. Expect a photo verification step too: a short selfie video compared with the member's profile photos, to confirm the account is used by the person shown. SeniorMatch has said this applies to every member since April 2025, though we could not confirm it is enforced on every new signup, so do not be surprised if the request comes later rather than immediately. There is no separate criminal background check at signup: verification confirms the photo, not a person's history.
  2. Search your own province Open the search filters and choose Anywhere or Living in, then set the location to Canada or your own province, so the results are not mostly American. In Alberta that search surfaces members from cities like Calgary and Edmonton first, simply because that is where the largest counts are.
  3. Write, or wait to be written to Standard (free) members can browse, wink and reply to messages a Premium member started, but cannot start a new conversation themselves. Premium starts at $33.99 USD on the website, or $45.99 CAD through the Canadian App Store, so it is worth reading a handful of free messages before deciding whether the upgrade is worth it to you.

Safety

Romance scams in Canada, in numbers

Canada's own numbers make the risk concrete: the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's 2024 report puts nationwide romance-scam losses at 58.9 million Canadian dollars. The report prints no direct romance-scam report count for that Overall table, but dividing the total loss by its own average loss per victimization works out to about 1,057 reports. That total is not a clean Canada-only figure; the Centre's Overall table also folds in some international and anonymous reports, so read it as the nationwide scale of the problem rather than an exact count of Canadian victims. No dating site publishes a matching number for its own members, SeniorMatch included, so there is no way to say how much of that total started on any one platform. We think this likely understates the true total, since many victims never file a report.

Three requests are reason enough to stop and report, not just to hesitate: being asked for money, being asked to pay in gift cards or cryptocurrency, and being pushed to move the conversation off SeniorMatch and onto another app quickly, before you have ever met in person.
